How to start quilting?

I love to see so many beautiful quilts online, and wondering if I could ever make one.

Is it difficult to make a quilt?
When you can sew a straight line then you can make a quilt, that's what people says.

I can't stand to see so many beautiful fabrics, sold as layer cakes, charm packs, jelly rolls, honey buns, mini charm packs, so I started to buy them and I collected also batik fabrics which is easily found here with good price ;)

First, I made 2.5" strips of batik fabrics (jelly rolls).

I didn't know what kind of quilt I wanted to make with those colorful batik fabrics, tried a simple bargello quilt before sewing.

It looks great, but finally I made a log cabin quilt. I always love log cabin quilt.
My first log cabin quilt is fully handmade and hand quilted, without batting as I live in a tropical country with more sunny days than cold days.

My next quilt is made from a moda fabric jelly roll, and I still handmade it, and it's a square in a square quilt. Unfortunately, I only finished the quilt topping, still don't know when will I finish it.
